# Derek Morgan

Co-Founder & CEO at [Refer2u](https://www.refer2u.com/)

Derek Morgan is Co-Founder and CEO of Refer2u, which he started in July 2025 to give small and mid-sized B2B businesses a simpler, AI-enabled way to run referral partnerships. A year earlier he founded Referral Marketing Ideas, which publishes the Referral Marketing Formula, a nine-module method for building referral partner networks that bring in B2B leads without ad spend or cold outreach. Before that he was Head of Affiliates and Partnerships at Referit, and at Dataweavers he built the partner relationships across the Sitecore ecosystem that produced multi-million dollar contracts and became the proof case for the formula. Earlier, the Brisbane-based founder was a channel development specialist at Nexon Asia Pacific, where he negotiated an exclusive APAC distribution agreement, ran his own consultancy, NewBusinessReality, for ten years, and spent seven years as a risk and business succession consultant.

## On Pipeline

- [How to Turn B2B Referral Partners Into Pipeline](https://thepipelinepodcast.com/episodes/how-one-referral-partner-can-change-everything-with-derek/)

    Episode 6 · Oct 26, 2026

Derek Morgan, Co-Founder & CEO at Refer2u, says businesses are so hyper-focused on new cold leads that they miss the value already sitting in their CRM and their existing network. His approach is to go looking for referral partners, ask…

    ### Key takeaways

    - Search your CRM for introductions to referral partners that nobody followed up on. Derek Morgan had two coffees with one consulting contact who had sat in a CRM for two years, and within six months they wrote $11.2 million.
    - Go to networking events looking for potential referral partners instead of leads. Bring a value statement that says why a referral partner would want to work with you.
    - Ask every new B2B contact who their ideal customer is. Then ask whether they work with referral partners, and who their ideal referral partner is.
    - Before a partner conversation, work out which parts of LASER your offer helps the partner with: leads, acceleration of deal cycle, sales conversion, expansion of revenue, products and services, or retention and re-engagement of customers.
